From ancient times people believed in the magical powers of the color blue. For instance, Lapis Lazuli was considered sacred in Babylon, as it was associated with the goddess of love Ishtar; one of the equivalents of Aphrodite.
The Babylonian Ishtar Gate was painted blue to imitate the color of Lapis. The blue gates represent our journey to the inner darkness, for finding peace and conquering the Unknown; returning ever more powerful. Similarly, this design symbolizes the personal triumph that can be achieved through self-reflection and practicing meditative states. Hence, the mirrors ornamenting the chest symbolize the power of reflection and change in the human self-perception.
