Urartu (Ուրարտու) is the ancient kingdom of Armenia, one of the cultural centers of the Near East. The complexity of this culture is expressed in their ceremonial magick, science, astrology and a unique form of art that endured through centuries.
The lion pattern of this tunic is the symbol of Khaldi; the chief god of Urartu. The modern capital Yerevan was built to honor the chief deity. For centuries, the symbol of the lion remained sacred for the Armenian royal families.
